Industrial Fire I - Exercise 1
Description
This half-day program was developed to offer general knowledge in the use, care and maintenance of a 30 lb. fire extinguisher. The program includes classroom theory as well as practical training on Global's Fire Field. The course’s theoretic and practical content can be increased at any time to meet corporate specifics. Course costs naturally reflect increases.
Learning Objectives:
Classroom Theory:
During the Industrial Fire I - Exercise 1 program, participants will engage in classroom theory sessions that cover various aspects of fire safety and fire extinguisher usage. By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Understand the basic elements of a fire, including the fire triangle and the conditions necessary for fire to occur.
- Recognize the different classifications of fires, such as Class A, B, C, and D, and understand the appropriate extinguishing methods for each class.
- Gain knowledge about different fire extinguishing agents and their effectiveness in controlling specific types of fires.
- Familiarize themselves with the different types of fire extinguishers, including their components and proper usage.
- Learn about fire safety practices at home, including fire prevention measures and emergency response procedures.
- Develop an awareness and understanding that fires can happen in various environments and situations, emphasizing the importance of preparedness and proactive safety measures.
Exercise #1:
In addition to the classroom theory sessions, participants will engage in practical exercises as part of Exercise 1. The specific learning objectives for this exercise include:
- Successfully extinguishing four fires individually using a 30 lb. dry chemical extinguisher. Participants will apply their knowledge of fire extinguisher usage and techniques to effectively suppress and control fires.
- Successfully collaborating as a team member to extinguish two fires using 30 lb. fire extinguishers. Participants will demonstrate their ability to work together, communicate effectively, and coordinate their efforts in a team setting to achieve successful fire extinguishment.
By completing Exercise 1, participants will gain hands-on experience and practical skills in utilizing fire extinguishers to respond to different fire scenarios. They will develop confidence and competence in their ability to safely and effectively combat fires, both individually and as part of a team.
Competencies:
To successfully complete the course, participants must meet the following minimum standards:
- Achieve a minimum score of 70% on the written competency exam.
- Demonstrate proficiency in extinguishing the required fires according to the exercise guidelines, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Course Outline
PRE-REQS: None
PPE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THIS CLASS: Fire-retardant coveralls, steel-toed boots, hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, outer-wear (suitable to weather conditions)
CANCELLATION POLICY: No shows will be Charged the full course fee. Full Course fee will be charged unless cancelled 5 business days prior to course. Certification of training will not be released until payment for the course has been submitted.
RESCHEDULING POLICY: Training will be rescheduled to another available class and must be taken place within 6 months. If the training has not taken place within 6 months of the original start date Global Training Centre will consider the class cancelled by you and all deposits, fees and remaining balance will be forfeited.
