Blended Standard First Aid
Global is now offering our first aid training in our leading edge “online blended” format. Blended learning provides the best of learning environments. Theory is done online, at the learners convenience, allowing you to choose your pace, your place for learning. Upon successful completion of both the online and in-class training components the learner will earn certification that is equivalent to our traditional in-class programs.
Online Portion of Blended Program
The computer based online training is structured in a self-paced modular format that allows the learner to enter and exit the program at their convenience. The interactive learning has video and text based instruction that is highly interactive, and provides multiple reinforcement tools including quizzes to reinforce the learning. The learner is required to complete the practical portion of the training within 90 days of successfully completing the online portion. It is recommended that the learner reviews the material if they attend the in-class training after 14 days of completing the online training.
In-Class Practical Training
The in-class portion of the course is delivered by an Instructor and focusses on practical skills. With the theory portion of the course previously completed on-line, the in-class portion of the course is approximately half the time of the traditional course format.
Upon successful completion of the in-class training students will receive First Aid & CPR certification for 3 years.
Online Blended Program – Accepted as Interim First Aid
Alberta Labor – OHS has made a concession that the online blended training courses offered through Global may be used as interim certification of first aid training for 120 days from expiry or until September 1, 2020 whichever is greater. NOTE: Employers and OHS officers ultimately must decide if they will accept the interim workplace first aid certificates as proof of current certification.
The practical portion is held at our facility in Strathmore, see dates below. You must complete the practical session within 90 days of completing the online portion. Please bring your proof of completion, which you can print upon completing the online portion, to the classroom practical session.
